Daniel Damascus Kimery versus Neil Thomas
3 hours ago
Daniel Kimery
Hey Neil, we need to talk.
Neil Thomas
ok. when?
Daniel Kimery
I keep seeing your name pop up with The Art Church and Low Key Arts. What is your affiliation with those Organizations?
Neil Thomas
why?
I attend events.
Daniel Kimery
Random curiousity.
Neil Thomas
Hot Springs is a small town. There are only so many people involved in the arts /nonprofit activities here. We all attend each others events.
Daniel Kimery
Which Gallery do you work for?
Neil Thomas
none. I'm not involved in the arts. I have a charitable garden.
Daniel Kimery
I'm sorry I got confused when you said "We all attend each others events.". Tell me about this charitable garden. I want to hear more.
Neil Thomas
We grow vegetables and give them away ot poor people.
Daniel Kimery
Cool. Have you heard of me?
Neil Thomas
We raise money to buy seeds, and pay the water bill....we depend on the artists to attend our events, make posters, talk about it with their clients....
Daniel Kimery
I have a lot of Gallery ties. Maybe we can scratch eachother's backs.
Neil Thomas
In Hot Springs, or Russelville? Which?
and how?
Daniel Kimery
Both.
Go talk to Tedd and Jeremy at The Tin Grizzly.
Neil Thomas
I have. You know them?
I wonldn't really call that an art gallery.
Daniel Kimery
The Art Church, Star Gallery, and Low Key Arts are Art Scams that make their money by charging wall fees rather than by selling Art. I would keep my distance if I were you. They have a very bad name in The Art Industry. Art Church and Low Key Arts are looking to sale now that they know that the jig is up and Star Gallery isn't trying to sell because they are renting. All Marc Menefee, Ray Fowler(who isn't a doctor btw), Bill Solleder, and Rebecca Stone are a bunch of Richard Gipe wannabes and they are killing Hot Spring's legitimacy as an Art Town.
Neil Thomas
Low Key doesn't rent wall space. They don't do that kind of art. It's music they are into.
Daniel Kimery
You wouldn't call The Tin Grizzly an Art Gallery? Ok what do you call that stuff hanging on their walls then? The least of their Artists are a thousand times better than the best that one of those Collectives that you like to rub elbows with has to offer.
They charge exhibitors fees for Artists and Artisans. I've seen the forms.
Neil Thomas
ok. thanks for the heads up.
Daniel Kimery
You're welcome. Let's try and keep eachother informed ok.
Neil Thomas
Like I said, Low Key isn't in that part of the art business, I think you have (at least some) of your information wrong. They put on music shows. I like the guys at Tin Grizzly, but I would say that MOST of what is in their store is imported from china? don't know. I thought if it as western home furnishings, not art, that was right after they first opened. The Art Church is a nonprofit and has to emphasise showing art and art education. Sales can't be the major part of their operation or it would be in violation of their nonprofit status. I love star gallery, but they aren't a nonprofit--sort of falls between the cracks of definition.

Neil Thomas
you seem to be venimously against these groups. Why?
what do you gain by discrediting others?
Daniel Kimery
You got almost all of your information wrong. The Tin Grizzly does not import Art from China. All of it is from the united states. The Gallery that you were thinking of is Art by The Park. You're right Star Gallery isn't a nonprofit but neither is The Art Church. Want Proof? Here it is...

I've seen these same calls for Artists come from Low Key Arts for The Hot Water Hills Festival. You really need to stop believing everything that everybody tells you especially in The Art Industry.

Uhm, I have an associate who writed rants frot the art church, they are a non profit.
And why are you trying to discredit everyone?
wrote grants...sorry about that
A non profit doesn't mean you don't charge money for anything.
Are you tea party or something?
Daniel Kimery
They charge their Artists a Wall Fee, The Charge their Artists a hefty Commission, The beg the public for money, and they get money from the Government. It looks like they are profiting every which way that a Gallery can so can you please explain to me how they are a Nonprofit again? The Tin Grizzly only makes it's money by selling Art yet they are called a Commercial Art Gallery and Art Church called is a Nonprofit LMFAO. This is bad comedy.
Daniel Kimery
Who is this associate? Give me his name and I will have him arrested for Defrauding The United States Government.
Neil Thomas
they have a legitimate 501c3 number. to become a nonprofit, you fill out paperwork and pay a $700 filing fee to the IRS. It's simple. There is a book at the library about how to do it. Again, why are you trying to discredit these people? WHat are you to gain whether or not they are a nonprofit? You seem rabidly against them, with no legitimate explaination. The City of Hot Springs is a nonprofit, yet every new building need a purchased permit, electrical inspection fees, you have to pay for city services. They get grants for roads, housing developement, and even to build the farmer's market. Are they frauding too? They charge money for permits and inspections, take taxes and write grants. ???

Neil Thomas
I don't thin you have a clear understanding of what a nonprofit is. These organizations make art accesible to the public, offer classes work shops, often without renumeration to those hosting the events. Star Gallery would qualify for nonprofit if they would apply. They rent out wall space, in that it is a coop and they all split the bills. It isn't completely free to set up there.
Neil Thomas
What is the name of your gallery?
and why are you bashing other galleries, except for Tim Grizzly, with all of their locally made stuff--you'd think would have met at least ONE of the artists that sells their stuff there.???
Daniel Kimery
Dallan Lambson, Sofya Mikesworth, Jay Wilburn, Curt Mullins, just to name a few. Are you seriously trying to slander a Legitimate Commercial Gallery in defense of your friend's Scam Gallery? And are you trying to tell me that anybody can buy a 501-C Nonprofit Status from The IRS for $700.00 then Operate their their business however they want yet still call theirself a nonprofit and get all the benefits of being a nonprofit? Maybe The IRS is who I should be talking to about this.
ago
Neil Thomas
Are those guys local? Dallan, Sofya, Jay, Curt? I am not trying to slander anyone. I just don't know where you are coming from.
Except anger, contempt, and you seem to have an agenda.
I guess you are trying to trip me up and get me to say something I might regret.
btw. I am not friends with the Art Church, or Low Key. n=you are making assumptions. Yet you refuse to identify your gallery.
You are an idiot! Don't talk to me or post on my wall. Thanks for your time.

He deleted me after his last messages before I got a chance to respond. Can you believe that he tried to convince me that Cities are NonProfit.

Yeah The Low Key Arts Center isn't an Art Venue... Yeah Riiiiiight. Well what do you call this then Neil?
Bill Solleder
Executive director at
Low Key Arts
Studied Radio and Television at
Southern Illinois University Carbondale
Lives in
Hot Springs, Arkansas
From
Chicago, Illinois
Music Venues don't have Executive Directors only Art Galleries and Film Festivals do. If it was just a Music Venue He would be the Owner and Operator or Manager or whatever other title he wants to make up for himself. And before any of my simple minded readers suggest that "It is a Music and Film Venue since Bill Solleder is The Lead Singer for Church of The Snake and a Documentarian" I need to remind you of the name of this place "The Low Key Arts Center" the operative words being ARTS CENTER!!! Beyond that they are constantly making calls for Artists and Artisans on Facebook and other Social Media. The only Galleries that do that are Galleries that make their money by charging hacks wall fees.
